I am always iterating and rethinking my lifetime goal, currently it is to remain intellectually and emotionally stimulated and inspired for as long as I can, while finding a good balance between my personal and professional lives, that would work for my stakeholders, people around me and myself, and hopefully give back to anyone who would benefit from what I would have learned.

As well put into words by Professor Rebeca Hwang, I aim to “… allowing myself to embrace all of the possible permutations of myself and cultivating diversity within me and not just around me.”

What I Enjoy Doing

Activities

My parents have helped instill in me a sense of discipline that I looked for in most activities I did during my youth. I discovered a getaway for myself in playing the piano and have been playing since I was 3 years old. I love performing in front of an audience, today I get to play for my housemates and occasionally at the airport in between connecting flights and I envision myself practicing even more. I also let off steam in Judo for 12 years up until college, it made me feel strong at times, and pushed me to become stronger and more prepared at others.

Boy Scout

The apogee of discipline was anchored in me during my scouting years (10 years total) and marked the most exciting part of my early life. I lived unique and memorable experiences with my peers, notably one where we managed to survive one of the biggest wildfires while camping. I enjoy bonding with nature, learning from the eldest generations and grow to one day be apt to mentor and lead youngsters that will look up to me, trust my decisions and trust me. It helped me shape and grow my core values. Also, it might have prepared me to go to the moon 🤔 Today, my dad still reminds me that 11 out of the 12 people that marched on the moon were Scouts.

Traveling & Journaling

I am a hoarder, I got it from my mom. I have (almost) managed to keep a daily log of all my previous travel experiences, I have been to 12 countries so far both for entertainment and work, and hope to be able to travel even more during my youth and a lot more when I am older. I enjoy journaling both my most exciting and worst experiences. Putting them into words has helped me organize my otherwise messy thoughts and feelings, take a step back to look back and introspect.

Friends and Family

I will be forever grateful for my parents who I know have sacrificed a lot to put me into college and provide me with the luxury of searching, finding and doing what I love to do, and experience what they were not fortunate to experience because of the circumstances they grew up in. It is their love, encouragement, and support that have pushed me (and still is) to do my best. I can only wish to make them feel proud and be able to give them back more than they have given me. If it weren’t for my friends, chances are I would have very rarely stepped out of my room. Living abroad made me realize how important my friends are to me. I try my best to keep in touch with most of them. Today I live in Mountain View, a community house we call HackerHome, immersed within a group of diverse women and men between their 20s and 40s, some of them working at top-notch companies, small startups, themselves or their ideas. Surrounding myself with amazing people, some of whom are now good friends, hearing their stories and what they have to share, is an experience I simply can’t put a price on.

Intellectually

Debating and solving hard problems stimulates my brain and make me feel alive. I always had penchants for futuristic fiction and am deeply fascinated by the development of Augmented and Virtual reality which I have been immersed in since 2016. I believe progress in many fields can be greatly accelerated by its interaction with AI and am truly inspired to try and contribute. I hate spoilers and enjoy looking at things for myself. I value hands-on experience, ownership, and responsibility which have helped me better satisfy my curiosity and steepen my learning curve.

Finances

Shortly after I started working in the Valley, I have been overwhelmed by how much people are invested in their finances. So I have been enjoying educating myself on investing, and am trying to be more proactive in managing my present and potential future assets. Here’s my Robinhood code: pierrew39

Other

I enjoy reading Japanese mangas and am a big fan of One Piece
